The Supreme Court

The Supreme Court: should we abolish it? - Vox
The Supreme Court is the highest judicial court in a country or stat and it consists of nine justices. The Supreme Court starts off with a case and thousands of petitions. All nine justices are crucial in each and everyone of these cases.

Each justice serves about 16 years and there have been over 100 of them. In 1789, when the Supreme Court first started, it was hard for Americans to grasp the idea of it and its dominance. However, after 200 years Americans have finally accepted the courts power and authority.

Each year, there are about 7,000 cases. Each justice gets a load of cases that they must decide on their own time, as well as a whole. The justices have stated that oral argument makes a huge difference when coming down to a decision. Abstract principles must be applied to real life situations. A couple days after a case, the 9 justices sit in their conference room to discuss and come down to a final decision. By the end of their term in June, they must state their final decision. During that time up to June, if they have opposing arguments on a case they have to do their absolute best job to convince one another of their ideas. It takes multiple drafts, sometimes at least 12, to convince each other. A minority can very quickly become a majority.

The justices spend so much time, and put so much effort into each case, that people are finally willing to accept the fact that the court is a reliable source.
